National Council of Teachers of Mathematics

The website National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, http://www.nctm.org/, is a site where math teachers can go to get support from people just like them. This would help the teachers learn more not only about their subject but how to better prepare the students. The people from this site want for teachers to know that they are supported when they choose to teach the proper math needed for the students to know the subject well.

What I would like to learn is if this website offers professional development that shows teachers how to scaffold the math for the students. This would help the students a lot because they seem to be falling behind in this area of their studies.

National Science Teacher Association

The website called National Science Teacher Association, http://www.nsta.org/default.aspx, is a site where they publish books and journals for teachers from kindergarten through college. They also hold several conferences for teachers so that they can connect their thoughts and ideas with each other.

I would like to learn more about how we can integrate technology into science so that the students can have a more hands on experience and therefore understand what they are studying. I think this would be a great way to show the students the contents that are to be taught in the designated grade level.

The Virtual Museum of San Francisco

The Virtual Museum of San Francisco, http://www.sfmuseum.org, is a research device that can be utilized by educators as well as students if they are trying to get information about the state of California. The teacher can use this to address the topics of gold rush, earthquakes in this region or many other more details about this state's history.

What I would like to learn is if there is a posibility that the museum would visit schools or offer funds for classrooms from other states to visit it's displays and gain a better learning experience. This would only promote students to read more about the history that lies in this beautiful state.

Teacher Tap

The website Teacher Tap, http://eduscapes.com/tap/topic21.htm, is a place that helps teachers travel to other destinations to get activities that can help them in their classroom. Teachers can go to this website and look for what they need instead of pluging in different websites into the search engine. This definitely facilitates the teachers job in looking for new activites to do with their students.

Something that I would like to learn from this is if we could build our own list of websites from this so that when I visit this website, I can have my personal list of websites I've seen and liked. I think this would make it easier for me because I would know where to go to find what I need.

PBS

The website PBS, http://www.pbs.org/, is a place where teachers parents and students can go to in order to access important information which will assist in their everyday life. From creative activities to informational news, PBS keeps up with an array of topics that will keep a vivid interest in the people who visit their site. Teachers can mainly benefit from this because they can gain useful information to use in their classrooms.

What I would like to learn is how we can bring sites like these into the classrooms so that not only the teachers can have the opportunity to explore this site but also give the children the opportunity to do the same in class. This can be a help ful site if students are looking for research or are simply looking for a game to kill time when they are done with their work.
